Meet the Doctors
Steven S. Wrege, DPM
Dr. Steven Wrege is a graduate of Indiana University where he received his degree in Chemistry. He received his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine in 1988 from Des Moines University. He completed his residency at the VA Medical Center in Albuquerque and went on to complete a fellowship with Indiana Podiatric Medical Association. Dr. Wrege is board certified by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery in Foot Surgery and Reconstructive Rearfoot/Ankle Surgery. Dr. Wrege has been president of the American Diabetes Association, Mountain States Region for Healthcare and Education, where his focus was on prevention of amputation in patients with diabetes. From 2010 to 2012, his peers elected him as President of New Mexico Podiatric Medical Association.
In the medical review edition of Albuquerque the Magazine, Dr. Wrege has been consistently listed as one of the city’s best podiatrists. In 2010, Guide to America’s Top Podiatrists Consumers Research Council by America also named Dr. Wrege one of the nation’s top podiatrists. He was named Podiatrist of the Year by New Mexico Podiatric Medical Association for 2013.
Dr. Wrege has been in practice in Albuquerque since 1992. He possesses the rare combination of an excellent surgeon and a friendly, caring and down to earth personality. Dr. Wrege takes pride in treating his patients in the same way that he would treat his own family. He says, “Although I am a board certified foot and ankle surgeon, rarely is surgery the first option for the majority of foot and ankle problems. Most of the time, we can get patients better without surgery.” Away from the office, Dr. Wrege enjoys skiing, golfing, scuba diving and traveling with his family. He is married to a native of Albuquerque and they have two children.
Brent A. Frame, DPM
Dr. Brent Frame is a graduate of Brigham Young University with a degree in Zoology. Taking a break from his undergraduate studies, Dr. Frame spent 2 years doing mission work in Amsterdam, Netherlands and is fluent in Dutch. He also earned a Master’s of Science degree in Podiatric Education from the California College of Podiatric Medicine (USC campus). Dr. Frame received his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine from California College of Podiatric Medicine in San Francisco, CA . His residency training was completed at Hillside/Scripps Mercy Hospitals in San Diego, CA and Kaiser Sacramento programs. In residency his emphasis was on diabetic limb salvage, acute foot and ankle trauma, and rearfoot and ankle reconstruction. Dr. Frame is board certified by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery in Foot Surgery and Reconstructive Rearfoot/Ankle Surgery. Dr. Frame has been practicing in Albuquerque since 1991. He previously served as residency director for the Lovelace Podiatry training program for 10 years (1996 -2006). Since 2004, he has served as volunteer Special Olympics “Fit Feet” Director.
Dr. Frame enjoys sharing his vast podiatric knowledge with the community as well as with his patients every day. Dr. Frame and his wife have 5 children and are the proud grandparents of 2 grandchildren. As a family, they enjoy vacationing together and being active in their local church. Outside of work he spends his time with various La Cueva High School sports programs. He also enjoys skiing, gardening, playing the guitar and even occasionally exercising.
J. Boyd Dodder, DPM
Dr. J. Boyd Dodder is a graduate of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in California where he received a degree in Kinesiology. He received his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine in 2001 from California College of Podiatric Medicine in San Francisco, CA. He completed a 3 year foot and ankle surgical residency here in Albuquerque, NM. Dr. Dodder is an active member of the New Mexico Podiatric Medical Association, where he has served as Vice President in the past. Dr. Dodder is board certified by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery in Foot Surgery and Reconstructive Rearfoot/Ankle Surgery.
Dr. Dodder develops a treatment plan, along with his patient, to correct their foot or ankle problems so that it fits their lifestyle and time schedule. Every patient’s injury/issue is different, and he involves the patient to find the solution together. He says, “I treat my patients the way I like to be treated. I have been the patient at one time. Much of what I went through led me to where I am today.” During his youth, Dr. Dodder was extremely active in sports even playing college baseball. He really enjoys treating athletic injuries and has a very well rounded understanding of athletic injuries.
In his free time, Dr. Dodder enjoys golfing, biking, yard work, coaching his son’s teams and being in the outdoors. He also enjoys relaxing with his wife and two children. Even though Dr. Dodder grew up in California, he now calls Albuquerque home. He is happy to be in the “Land of Enchantment” where there are blue skies and a relaxed atmosphere.
Sharon Walston Kobos, DPM
Dr. Sharon Walston Kobos earned an undergraduate degree in Biology from University of New Mexico. She received her Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine from California College of Podiatric Medicine in San Francisco, CA. She completed a three year surgical residency program in San Francisco and Santa Ana, CA. Born and raised in Albuquerque, NM, Dr. Kobos decided to come home after residency. She is board certified by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery in Foot Surgery and Reconstructive Rearfoot/Ankle Surgery. She is also a fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons.
Dr. Kobos treats patients with both surgical and non-surgical foot and ankle problems. She treats patients of all ages, including preventative foot care for the elderly and immunocompromised. She enjoys treating athletes of all types and is a very conservative physician who is largely recognized for a non-surgical approach to patient care whenever possible. When asked why feet? Her answer: “Feet are very important. It is hard to land the space shuttle with a flat tire.”Her introduction to podiatry happened when Sharon was a teenager and a competitive figure skater. She is still an avid figure skater as well as a figure skating judge. But her most important second job is as a wife and mother of two daughters. She also enjoys skiing, hiking, biking, and running.
Joshua J. Marshall, DPM
Dr. Joshua Marshall is a graduate of Brigham Young University with a degree in Philosophy. After completion of undergraduate education, he spent two years in Taiwan teaching English to Mandarin speaking children and studying medicine with a rotation dedicated to infectious disease. Dr. Marshall received his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from Des Moines University. Residency was completed in Albuquerque New Mexico with a final year spent at Kaiser-Permanente Sacramento in California. Dr. Marshall is Board Certified with the American Board of Podiatric Medicine
Dr. Marshall holds evidence based medicine as the cornerstone for successful treatment. He understands that treatment must be tailored to meet the needs of the individual—this is what makes medicine rewarding, personal and his reason for becoming a foot and ankle specialist. Dr. Marshall has published several articles in medical journals that further document his commitment to podiatric medicine. When Dr. Marshall isn't at the office, he enjoys the outdoors, hiking, camping, running,and soccer. He is looking forward to spending the weekends in the mountains with his family.
